Pay it forward

Yesterday was a particularly trying day in the world of parenthood for me. Presley is really independent and stubborn right now and had a major meltdown in church.

After that, I needed a 5 minute break so I decided to head to Starbucks for a little pick-me-up.

I ordered my tasty treat and waited behind another car to pull up to the window. As I pulled up and got ready to hand my card to pay, the Barista told me "No need, the car in front paid for you. Have a great day!"

This totally caught me off guard but made my day. So glad to hear that there is still a little bit of good in the world. Thanks to the stranger in front for the yummy coffee!

I'll be sure to pay it forward when I have the chance.

Presley's first haircut

I finally bit the bullet last night and decided to have Presley's hair cut. For the longest time she didn't have any hair and it was really hard for me to decide to cut it once it finally did start growing!

But, it was turning into a mini-mullet and a rat's nest when she would wake up in the morning so I decided it was time.

My sister, Lindsey, has been begging me for a long time to cut it. She does this for a living so I decided Presley was in good hands!

Presley was actually pretty excited and was funny the whole time.

You can really tell that big of a difference, we just evened out the back. And of course I saved a few little curls for her baby book. One more step in the direction away from baby/toddler-hood towards being a big kid! Sad. :(

She held very still!

Update!

As always, I've fallen behind on this little blog of mine! Seems like I post, then months fly by and I just forget. Oh well. Here's a quick update of what we've been up to since my last post in May.

June:
This month came with a little anxiety as we knew it was when we were going to have to take Presley up to Kansas City to have surgery to repair her kidney. Long story short, all went well. It was a rough few days but she bounced back quickly! The rest of the month was spent laying low and making sure she was too active so she healed ok. (a task that was a little tricky with a 2 year old!)

July:
July came with new expectations but this time, it was of FUN to come. Matt and I snuck away for a weekend trip to Las Vegas. This was much needed and was had a blast!!

August:
We had a pretty low key month. Just hung out, did some swimming, house projects etc!

September:
Stay tuned for more detailed updates!!

The Beach!

We took a little family vacation down to Galveston, TX over Memorial Day weekend. Matt's Mom lives in Galveston.

She works at a resort there so we were able to score an awesome hotel room right on the beach. It was so much fun and Presley LOVED the beach and the water. She's still taking about it and whenever we say we're going somewhere now, she asks "to the beach??"

Here are a few pics to recap the trip.

Little flower girl

I have quite a few events to get caught up on!

Wayyyy back in April, my youngest sister Lindsey got married. Presley was the flower girl. I have to admit, I was VERY nervous at how she would be. Would she walk, run, crawl down the isle? Would she just throw herself down and cry?

But amazingly, she did great! She was so cute holding the ring bearers hands as they walked down the isle. I defintely let out a sigh of relief when she made it to the altar. Here are a few pics.

Congrats to Lindsey & Shane! It was quite an eventful night. This was the evening the tornado hit Wichita so we spent part of the reception in the basement. The party kept on going though.

Tomorrow....

Tomorrow when I wake up, I will be 30. T-H-I-R-T-Y.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. Seems like yesterday that I was a freshman in college moving into the dorms at K-State. Crazy.

So many things happened in my 20's. College, first jobs, fun vacations, marriage, moving, more jobs, having a baby, pets. Can the 30's top that? I sure hope so!

Some days I'm ok with it, some days I'm not. I will let you know how I REALLY feel tomorrow when it actually happens.

Don't they say 30 is the new 20?? If so, then today I'm only 19 and I'm definitely okay with that!

Two Year pics

A few weeks ago, we met up with our favorite photographer, Allie Burns , for Presley's 2 year pictures. She has been taking Presley's pictures since she was 5 months old. Allie does an amazing job and she's so fun to work with. I wish we could take pictures every couple of months!

We decided to meet up at the Wichita Botanica Gardens because the tulips were in full bloom and it was beautiful!

I'll have to say, getting a 2 year old to pose for pictures is a little tricky. I was worried we might not have any good photos but Allie always manages to catch some great smiles.

This is Presley in a nutshell. FULL of energy!

Love this girl. She's growing up before my eyes!

So happy.

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter celebrating with friends and family! Here are a few snap shots of our Easter egg hunt! Presley had fun. There was no shortage of candy, plastic eggs or stuffed bunnies at our house! Little to her dismay, we didn't let her eat the candy!

{Two}

Two.

My sweet little "baby" is now 2 years old!

Time flies.

Not quite sure how we got from this:

March 2, 2010

To this:

1st Birthday

To this, so quickly!

2 year check-up last week

Dear Presley,

At 2 years old, I'm afraid you're acting much older than your age! The conversations we have are hilarious. You say EVERYTHING that we say so we have to be careful. You're up to almost 10 word sentences now.

You've known the alphabet and how to count from 1 - 20 for a couple months now and can even do some numbers in Spanish! (thanks to Dora the Explorer!)

You love to play outside, color and read books. You are so busy, it wears us out but we love it.

Most of all, I love it when you come up to me and say "Hi Mommy. How you doin'. I wuv you". It melts my heart.

We love you so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings!
